History
Our Cabin
Located in a remote area of Bald Eagle State Forest in Central PA is Penns Creek Cabin.
The previous owners named the cabin, Kaarondinhah’s Camp Guttalata, “Kaarondinhah” (ka ron’ den hah‘) was the Lenni Lenape name for “shining waters”, refering to a special stretch of water on Penn’s Creek on which Penns Creek Cabin is located; “Guttalata”, commonly called The Green Drake, is one of the largest species of the mayfly genus Ephemera, for which Penn’s Creek is WORLD FAMOUS.
Penns Creek Cabin is nestled deep in Bald Eagle State Forest, along the wooded banks of this hallowed and still revered water. Our cabin is the perfect location for a variety of outdoor pleasures. Surrounded by thousands of square miles of uninhabited forest, activities like hiking, mountain biking, kayaking/ canoeing, and inner-tubing in the summer are right out your front door. We have been blessed to be the owners of Penns Creek Cabin for over a year now. We live in Elizabethtown, PA and often travel up to our Cabin to “get back to nature.”

Union County Sportsman's Club
Located on Weikert Rd. open Wednesday-Sunday. Serves a variety of American cuisine in a casual relaxed setting. A bar area is included as well as a family-friendly dining area. A playground and small zoo featuring whitetail deer, trout, and local birds. There is a shooting range, hiking trail, and campground. Your trash can be deposited behind the restaurant during and at the end of your stay.
Microbrew & Restaurant
Rusty Rail Brewing Company is located at 5 N 8th St #1, Mifflinburg, PA 17844. They have the best food in the area, are open 7 days a week and they do offer takeout. Their Sunday brunch is good. Boomerangs Bar & Grill
Located on Rt. 45 just outside of Hartleton, PA is open for breakfast until late at night. Outside dining is available. We hear the breakfast is good. Address: 17705 Old Turnpike Rd, Millmont, PA 17845 Phone: 570-922-1232. They offer dine-in and take-out.
Outdoor & Adventure
Tubes are available for floating in the creek. Just up the road from the Cabin is the Rail Trail (part of the Mid-State Trail) where you can hike or bike through the tunnel and back - it's about 5 miles round trip. Bald Eagle State Forest is all around for hiking, mountain biking, Jeeping, 4wheeling, and even snowmobiling. Bring your own kayaks or canoes for a paddle down Penns Creek as well.
Day Trips
If spelunking is more to your liking, you can tour three caves in the area. Start at Woodward Cave, drive west on PA 45 for about 20 minutes and take a boat tour through Penn’s Cave, a MUST SEE!
Drive further west another 30 miles on the “Purple Heart Highway” through the historic town of Boalsburg, to tour the third cave, Indian Caverns, along the banks of Spruce Creek.
Sight Seeing
If you are into History - there is historic Boalsburg, PA just west on Rt. 45 toward State College. Once there, you can easily visit Penn State's campus and all the sites.
